The DFM is a vast online photographic archive consisting of photographs of the effects of the earthquake on buildings, artifacts and on the environment that are the result of a long activity of investigations and macroseismic surveys from approximately the end of 70s of last century. In addition to the goal of preserving the large amount of photographs collected over the years, DFM assign to each described effect a macroseismic intensity estimate based on the EMS-98 scale (European Macroseismic Scale 1998, Grünthal et al., 1998), a choice that was guided by the desire to make DFM usable both by seismologists and engineers, and by a more generic user." ;
